After being born in the early 1980s,
in the era of Revox red-to-reels and
cassette tapes,
The Nixon Tapes has
morphed into a new podcast about
aviation and other matters.

While waiting for the new platform to
be finalised, listeners are treated to the
archive of radio performances, delivered
in the podcasting format.

Theme Music

Listen to the show's theme
HERE

A KPM track,
21 Denmark Street
was released in 1981 and we used
it in the 3AW Beach Promotions.

The theme has been mashed with
an Air Traffic Control warning from a
US Warship to a Royal Air Force aircraft
flying towards them, the
iRadio MAX theme,
(as homage to
Max Walker, who pioneered
"internet-narrowcast radio" in Australia);
actual recordings of
President Nixon,
various sound effects and Airbus cockpit
attention-getters.

Intended for headphone users, the President's
remarks flit from left to right, and back again.

The into lasts
55 seconds before fading.

The outro fades-up under the voice-over,
the last
30 seconds is a stylised instrument
landing approach and touchdown, complete
with altitude callouts and auto-pilot disconnect.

Again,
President Nixon makes an appearance:
"Just think how much you're gonna be missing me.
You don't have Nixon to kick around anymore."

Before the tape grinds to a halt.

The music track takes its name from
21 Denmark Street London
aka "Tin Pan Alley" which was the centre
of the recording industry. It is being rebuilt.
